‘White Planet’ is a representation of the border between dream and reality. It is a planet with a milky atmosphere whose soil emits light and on which terrestrial space-time rules, sensation and perception are altered. It is a wrinkled giant that comes alive out of scale, engulfing the observer and disorienting him: it is no longer possible to recognise direction, size, distances. The protagonist of the story is a mineral researcher who moves around the planet towards his destination: a light in the distance, which seems to be the only point of reference. A fragmented voice describes what a living being feels when moving in the absence of perceptual references. A vision of the landscape that is both adult and doubtful of the usefulness of man’s effort in dealing with nature. The gaze paints an enormous and indifferent world where the sun is reflected on a rock and everything can be swallowed up in an instant…
