Milan, Aosta, Turin, Palermo: four cities, four chapters of a journey, in the company of a war correspondent, in search of the open fronts in their own country. The school, an institution that struggles to produce an idea of the future; the failure of a grandiose industrial project; islands of well-being that discover with amazement how radically reality has changed. Encounters with men and women who have slipped into territories lacking certainties, imposing reflections on the modes and limits of narration.
